Climate Change and Materials Management 
Mission: Joint Workgroup with NERC to support a forum for discussing the climate change impacts of materials and materials management and research developments; holding information-sharing and training events; and assisting state agencies with projects. The Workgroup also facilitates information and training exchanges with the West Coast Climate and Materials Management Forum.

Construction & Demolition Materials Workgroup
Mission: To improve state understanding of C & D waste generation, processing, and disposal capacity, end-use markets, and interstate flow; to improve C & D waste management and increase beneficial uses.

Disaster Debris Workgroup
Mission: To facilitate information sharing among state and EPA disaster debris management officials in environmental and emergency response agencies to help them learn from each other’s experience and exchange programmatic and technical resources.

Mission: Joint Workgroup with NERC to support a forum for discussing regional interstate food waste issues and regulatory and policy developments; holding information-sharing and training events; conducting research and analysis; and assisting state agencies with projects and program implementation.

Recycled Content Legislation Workgroup
Mission: Joint Workgroup with NERC to facilitate the development of model recycled content legislation to advance increased use of recycled materials in a variety of products, starting with plastic film and containers.

Mission: Understand how mildly contaminated soils are currently regulated and managed in each state, and develop common reuse options and policies.

Mission: To help states improve the effectiveness of their solid waste programs by facilitating information sharing on program activities, successes, and challenges; identifying priorities for NEWMOA's activities; identifying possible funding sources; and developing annual training plans.

Beneficial Use Determinations Networking Group
Mission: To improve BUDs program effectiveness through increased understanding of other states programs and the sharing of information regarding waste materials successfully used in products.

* Note: Networking Groups are groups of state and federal contacts that have a common interest and responsibility in a particular waste management, waste site cleanup, or pollution prevention area that use the networking group to share information electronically and through irregular conference calls or meetings, if appropriate. The primary focus of these groups is to share information and not to conduct projects.
