Materials Management - Restrictions on Plastics Workgroup

Mission: Support state efforts to implement a variety of restrictions on plastic packaging and products by:

• Facilitating discussions about the various restrictions, how state agencies are defining key terms, and state rulemaking activities and challenges
• Supporting information sharing on state activities to enforce restrictions on plastic products, such as single use bags, straws, and polystyrene sulfonate packaging and food ware
• Provide a forum for sharing lessons learned from state initiatives to promote compliance and enforce the restrictions, fostering insights about what strategies are working or not, collaborating on tools and outreach materials
• Identify metrics that effectively measure results and communicate impacts
• Share legislative proposals and enacted statutes
