Solid Waste Disposal Capacity
Solid waste officials, researchers, advocates, industry members, and consultants have raised concerns about available disposal capacity in the northeast U.S. In 2021, NEWMOA published a first-of-its kind Report to inform these conversations and provide an overview of the solid waste disposal capacity in the Region.
An update was published in April of 2026. This version also includes a high-level analysis of solid waste being exported out of the region for disposal.
