Solid Waste Projects

NEWMOA coordinates a Solid Waste Steering Committee consisting of one or more solid waste program managers from each of the Northeast states. A key activity of the Committee has been to coordinate conference calls and webinars on various priority issues. Recent topics include organics management, compost facility regulations, landfill post-closure requirements, and management of mildly contaminated soils.

Beneficial Reuse of Waste Materials - Provides information on work with states' beneficial use determination (BUD) programs including NEWMOA's BUD Database and four factsheets.

Climate-Waste Action - Provides information on NEWMOA's Climate-Waste Action Plan and efforts underway to implement the Plan.

Commercial Waste Paper Recycling - Provides information on Commercial Waste Paper Recycling initiative that was launched as part of the effort to implement NEWMOA's Climate-Waste Action Plan.

Construction and Demolition (C&D) Materials - Provides information on NEWMOA's C&D materials projects and reports.

Municipal Solid Waste - Includes information on the "Interstate Flow of Municipal Solid Waste Among the NEWMOA States" data analysis, including data presentations and reports.

Open Waste Burning - View or download television, radio, and print public service announcements put together by NEWMOA states to raise awareness of open burning of solid waste.
