NEWMOA's waste site cleanup program focuses on investigation and remediation of contaminated sites. NEWMOA's Waste Site Cleanup Steering Committee meets regularly to plan and oversee the Association's waste site cleanup projects. Current priorities include:

• Training for state staff and consultants on technical and policy issues related to evaluating and remediating contamination in the environment
• Brownfields program improvement, as well as understanding TSCA requirements for site with PCBs and preserving federal funding for state Brownfields and other voluntary site cleanup programs
• Management of mildly contaminated soils generated from construction, utility, brownfields, and other projects
• Other information-sharing through quarterly Steering Committee conference calls
