Summit on Lean & Process Improvement for Environmental Agencies in the Northeast

The purposes of this training summit were to:
- Provide a forum for exchanging success stories, results, tools, & information
- Share examples of how Lean & similar efficiency projects are improving performance of agencies & delivering environmental value
- Identify examples of how Lean & similar efficiency projects have increased efficiency & effectiveness of environmental permitting, compliance, sampling & analysis, & enforcement
- Identify opportunities for coordination & collaboration among state agencies & with EPA
The invitees included state and federal environmental agency managers and staff involved with and interested in Lean and other approaches to improving efficiency of various agency activities; including those from the New England states, New York, and New Jersey; managers and staff at government environmental laboratories; EPA Regions 1 and 2 staff; interstate organizations; and others.
The invited speakers included state and federal environmental officials that have implemented Lean or other efficiency methods in their agencies and several Lean experts that have extensive experience helping government agencies with their efforts.
