Health Effects of Exposure to PFAS

Dr. Angela Perez, Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH) [PDF] presented an overview of the state of the science related to adverse human health effects of PFAS exposure. Dr. Perez summarized epidemiological evidence of cholesterol modulation in occupational and community-based studies and discussed disparities in data interpretation between the study types.

Dr. Carmen Messerlian, Harvard University School of Public Health [PDF] summarized the experimental and human evidence on the immunotoxic effects of PFAS exposure. She presented recent findings using data from both the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and the Faroese Islands on the impact of PFAS exposure on immune function among children and adolescents.
