NERC/NEWMOA Four Part Webinar Series

Webinar 4: Environmental Justice in Anaerobic Digestion: Green Solutions, Just Outcomes

Join us for a webinar on the intersection of anaerobic digestion and environmental justice. We will explore how anaerobic digestion can address environmental inequities and contribute to a more sustainable future. We will discuss the environmental benefits of anaerobic digestion such as its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ways it can promote social and environmental equity in communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and waste. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how anaerobic digestion can be a powerful tool for advancing environmental justice.

Sharon Lewis, Executive Director of the Connecticut Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice

Sharon Lewis, as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice, has dedicated over thirty years to raising awareness about the disproportionate impact the placement of regional waste facilities such as landfills and incinerators have in low wealth and communities of color which are already burdened with high levels of pollution and other environmental hazards. She strongly believes that by implementing anaerobic digestion processes in waste facilities, environmental justice communities can see a reduction in the reliance of fossil fuels which impact environmental and public health outcomes.
