PFAS in Surface Water, Fish, & Shellfish
April 13, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
The webinar was presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states and and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members.
The webinar included the following presentations:
Dr. Ronald MacGillivray, Delaware River Basin Commission [PDF] presented PFAS in Surface Water & Fish from the Delaware River. The presentation discussed data on number of different PFAS sampled over a 15-year period (2004 to 2018) in fish fillet and surface water in tidal and non-tidal segments of the Delaware River. During the period, actions were taken to reduce or eliminate the release of certain PFAS to the environment and observed trends were presented.
Michael Murphy, Wood [PDF] presented Investigation & Health Risk Screening for PFAS In Surface Water & Shellfish at Former Air Force Base. The presentation presented the results of an Expanded Site Investigation of PFAS migration pathways and potential human exposure media (surface water, sediment, and shellfish) associated with PFAS releases to groundwater and surface water associated with use of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) at a former Air Force Base. A human health risk screening was conducted and the results were used to inform additional identification of potential human exposure scenarios and to develop the Remedial Investigation Work Plan.
