Materials Management 101: Waste Reduction, Reuse, and Repair
July 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Reduction, Reuse, and Repair are the best, most efficient means to reduce waste and its impacts to the environment, climate, and the supply chain. Why isn’t there more emphasis on this approach? What are the headwinds to more reduction and reuse programs? On the flip side, where are the opportunities? And what work is currently being done with success?
Leah Kelleher of the MassDEP, helps lead the state’s efforts to prevent waste and implement its Reduce & Reuse Action Plan.
Nathan Proctor of the Public Interest Research Group, leads U.S. PIRG’s Right to Repair campaign, working to pass legislation that will prevent companies from blocking consumers’ ability to fix their own electronics and other consumer goods.
Macy Zander is a Senior Policy Officer at Upstream. Macy works to create an enabling policy environment for reuse systems in the food, beverage and CPG sectors, and to modernize Deposit Return Systems.
