Materials Management 101: How do Environmental Agencies Classify Waste?

This was the first of several basic solid waste training webinars for new staff to solid waste programs at state environmental agencies. The webinar was presented by Mark Dennen of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, and covers state vs federal regulations and characterization as municipal solid waste, construction and demolition debris, hazardous waste, and what is not solid waste. It also includes a brief overview of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Cleanup, and Liability Act (CERCLA, commonly known as Superfund), and OSHA and DOT requirements.
