SUMMARY:Overcoming Fractured Bedrock Investigation Challenges
DESCRIPTION:The webinar was presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necesssaily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nThe webinar included a presentation from Derek Pizarro & Bill Brab\, AST Environmental [PDF] \nThe presentation described how to succinctly characterize a fractured bedrock site to design an injection program. The main difference between this Remedial Design Characterization (RDC) approach and conventional bedrock investigation is the use of Bedrock Characterization and Injection Points (BCIP)\, which allow concise investigation and increased radius of influence (ROI) and distribution in the formation via fractures\, features\, discontinuities\, secondary porosities\, and other subsurface pathways that are either typically under-characterized or overlooked for traditional injection operations.

SUMMARY:Leveraging Your CSM to Develop Successful Bedrock Remediation Approaches: Concepts & Case Studies
DESCRIPTION:The webinar was presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nThe webinar included a presentation from Chapman Ross\, FRx & Leah MacKinnon & Julie Konzuk\, Geosyntec Consultants [PDF] \nThe webinar focused on overcoming characterization and remediation challenges specific to bedrock sites. Developing an accurate conceptual site model (CSM) is a critical first step in the remediation process. Some of the key aspects of CSM development at bedrock sites include identifying the rock type\, delineating the source mass\, characterizing the fracture network\, and understanding the groundwater flow regime. For in situ remediation at bedrock sites\, the treatment technology and amendment delivery methods require careful consideration. Two case studies were presented that demonstrate how well-developed CSMs were leveraged to implement successful remediation approaches at complex bedrock sites.

SUMMARY:End Markets for Finished Compost
DESCRIPTION:Just as with traditional recyclables\, closing the loop is essential for successful organics management. The loop is closed with the productive use of finished compost. This webinar\, jointly hosted by NERC and NEWMOA\, discussed end market applications and examples from organizations that compost food and other organics. \nPresenters included: \n\nDebra Darby\, Manager\, Organics Sustainability Solutions\, Tetra Tech\, Moderator\nCharles Duprey\, Founder and President of Naturcycle LLC [PDF]\nMaria Bianchetti\, Recycling Specialist\, OCRRA [PDF]\nEmma Yates\, Business Development\, and Ryan Cerrato\, Vice President\, Product Marketing\, WeCare Denali [PDF]\n\nView the Recorded Webinar.
