SUMMARY:PFAS: Results of Fish Tissue Studies in New Jersey & New York
DESCRIPTION:This webinar included the following presentations: \nJesse Becker\, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation\nPFAS in New York State Fish: 2010 – 2018 [PDF] \nSandra Goodrow\, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection\nInvestigation of Levels of Perfluorinated Compounds in New Jersey Fish\, Sediment\, and Surface Water [PDF]  \nNew Jersey and New York recently conducted fish tissue studies in order to understand the prevalence of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the environment and the risk it might pose to the public. \nJesse Becker\, NYSDEC presented PFAS in New York State Fish\, 2010 – 2018 and shared the results of several fish tissue studies performed in New York; and for more recent efforts\, the relation to locations with PFAS releases. \nSandra Goodrow\, NJ DEP presented the results of a statewide targeted fish tissue study that included the evaluation of the PFAS concentration of sediment and surface water at the fish collection sites. These results were used to evaluate the extent of known site contamination and ultimately led to the issuance of fish consumption advisories in New Jersey.
