SUMMARY:PFAS Visualization Case Studies for Site Characterization\, Remediation\, and Forensics
DESCRIPTION:Disclaimer: This webinar is presented for informational purposes only. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of any of the NEWMOA member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nThank you to those of you who were able to join us for a webinar on PFAS Visualization Case Studies for Site Characterization\, Remediation\, and Forensics. This session explored practical methods and real-world case studies for visualizing complex PFAS datasets to support site characterization\, remediation\, and forensic assessments. Visualization approaches demonstrated during the webinar focused on evaluating multispecies PFAS inter-relationships to characterize relative source contributions within commingled plumes; comparing site concentrations to background levels in soil and groundwater; assessing lines of evidence for precursor transformation to PFAA end products; interpreting TOP assay results; evaluating relative attenuation trends along flow paths; and monitoring remediation performance. \nThis session featured a presentation from Grant Carey\, Ph.D.\, President of Porewater Solutions. Dr. Carey has more than 30 years of experience in PFAS fate and transport\, site characterization and remediation\, environmental forensics\, and groundwater modeling. He is currently involved in multiple SERDP and ESTCP projects for the U.S. Department of Defense focused on PFAS remediation and is a co-developer of the Visual PFAS™ software demonstrated during the webinar. Dr. Carey also serves as an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto. \nPlease use the links below to access the full webinar recording and supporting materials shared during the session.\n\nResources\n• Session Recording [MP4] \n• Slide Deck [PDF] \n• Speaker Biography [PDF] \n• Visual PFAS Software [External Link]\n• Heat Matrix Template [PPTX]

SUMMARY:Delving into the PFAS Analytical Data
DESCRIPTION:Disclaimer: This webinar is presented for informational purposes only. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of any of the NEWMOA member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nThank you to those of you who were able to join us for a webinar on Delving into the PFAS Analytical Data. This session examined common issues associated with PFAS analytical results provided in Level 2 laboratory data packages and discussed the implications of using summarized data for decision-making without review of laboratory raw data. Drawing on examples identified through deeper Level 4 data review\, the presentation highlighted data anomalies that can affect reported PFAS detections and concentrations\, including issues related to isomer integration\, calibration standards\, confirmation ions\, ion ratios\, and internal standards. \nThis session featured a presentation from Elizabeth Denly\, PFAS Initiative Leader and Chemistry Director at TRC. In this role\, Liz is responsible for providing QA/QC oversight in support of a variety of environmental investigations\, including risk-based soil cleanups\, remediation programs\, delineation\, contaminant ambient air monitoring\, and human health and ecological risk assessments. She currently works on many different types of PFAS investigations with a specific focus on chemistry\, forensics\, sampling procedures\, QA/QC\, and laboratory analytical methodologies\, and has played a significant role in educating clients\, attorneys\, and regulators about PFAS. \nPlease use the links below to access the full webinar recording and supporting materials from the session.\n\nResources\n• Session Recording [MP4] \n• Slide Deck [PDF]

SUMMARY:The Science of PFAS: Public Health and the Environment Conference
DESCRIPTION:Final Conference Agenda with Links* [PDF]\nFinal Poster Directory with Links* [PDF]\nExhibitor Directory [PDF]\n* Please note that not all presenters granted permission to share their materials. Linked content reflects only those presentations and posters NEWMOA was authorized to post.\n\n \nThe Northeast Waste Management Officials’ Association (NEWMOA) partnered with the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) to organize the third science conference on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This three-day event took place from April 14 – 16\, 2026\, at the DCU Center in Worcester\, MA. \nThe conference aimed to: \n\nProvide a platform to ensure that local\, state\, and federal actions addressing PFAS contamination are informed by the most current and reliable scientific research.\nFoster networking and information-sharing among key stakeholders engaged in PFAS-related work.\nIdentify critical gaps in science and policy to guide future research and initiatives.\n\nThe program featured a plenary session\, concurrent breakout sessions\, poster presentations\, and an exhibit area. Abundant networking took place during the scheduled breaks and the evening reception\, which was held on the first day. \nWe welcomed just under 600 attendees\, including: \n\nLocal\, state\, and federal government officials\nAcademic researchers and students\nConsultants and vendors\nRepresentatives from companies that use\, make or sell PFAS-containing products\nNon-governmental and environmental organizations

SUMMARY:Background Indoor Air at Vapor Intrusion Sites (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:We hope you can join us for what promises to be an informative webinar on Background Indoor Air at Vapor Intrusion Sites. During this session\, Bart Eklund and Catherine Regan of Haley & Aldrich will discuss background indoor air concentrations that may be encountered when working at vapor intrusion (VI) sites. This presentation will include an overview of how to address background sources for a given building\, an identification of various building categories\, and a list of key background indoor air studies that have been published. Reported background concentrations for each category of building will be summarized and data gaps or limitations will be identified. There will be ample time reserved for questions or discussion. \nNote: This webinar is presented for informational purposes only. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of NEWMOA member state(s)\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by either NEWMOA or its members. \n\nRegistration Information\nThis webinar will be held on GoTo Webinar and all interested attendees should register here. \nThe registration fee for this event is $75; however\, government employees – including those outside the NEWMOA member states – may attend at no cost. To request a complimentary registration code\, please contact Shaina Cohen directly at scohen@newmoa.org.
