SUMMARY:PFAS Destruction: Updates on Two Technologies (webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Note: This webinar is presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nMichael Crisenbery\, Clean Harbors [PDF] presented PFAS Incineration: Performance Test Results. Michael discussed the full-scale testing of PFAS destruction at its hazardous waste incinerator in Utah in 2021 and the measured results. The testing included sampling and analysis for 49 target PFAS analytes in incinerator process waste feed streams\, treatment chemical feed streams\, solid and liquid process residue streams\, and incinerator stack gases. Michael also discussed Clean Harbor’s subsequent work with EPA\, DoD and other regulatory agencies. \nDavid Trueba and Trevor Whitson\, Revive [PDF] presented about Revive’s PFAS Annihilator™\, a technology deployed at commercial scale in Michigan. It uses supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) and is destroying PFAS in landfill leachate by treating the hyper-concentrate resulting from foam fractionation treatment of the raw leachate. Preparation is also underway for treatment of AFFF concentrate and AFFF-contaminated rinse waters from state AFFF take back programs and other AFFF cleanout projects. David and Trevor shared lessons learned in working with commercial and regulatory partners and in optimizing operation for different PFAS-contaminated aqueous matrices. \n  \nFor more information\, contact Jennifer Griffith at jgriffith@newmoa.org.

SUMMARY:PFAS Destruction: Two More Technologies (webinar)
DESCRIPTION:1:30 to 3:00 PM (eastern) \nBoth presenters focused on their experience at real-world client facilities and presented analytical treatment results. They also shared information about situations their technology is particularly suited for and also the limitations. \nNote: This webinar was presented for informational purposes. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of each of the NEWMOA-member states\, and the strategies and technologies discussed should not be considered an endorsement by NEWMOA or its members. \nPhil Farina\, Clear Creek Systems presented on the commercially available AMEOX® technology that uses advanced oxidation fluid to destroy PFAS adsorbed within “exhausted” granular activated carbon (GAC) systems. The AMEOX® system is on a mobile platform that can be brought to a treatment facility to facilitate on-site revitalization of spent GAC in a closed-loop batch process. The AMEOX® system can be used on GAC at drinking water treatment facilities. \nJulie Bliss Mullen\, Aclarity Water presented about their commercially available on-site system which utilizes patented electrochemical destruction. Aclarity’s solution can destroy PFAS in liquid media and can treat landfill leachate without pretreatment. The system can also be used for industrial process water\, municipal wastewater\, and potable water. \n  \nFor more information\, contact Jennifer Griffith at jgriffith@newmoa.org.
