MeasurementNEWMOA helps state environmental programs and grocers develop methods and tools to estimate the outcomes from sustainable practices. This initiative supports government programs that conduct outreach and assistance to grocers and designate sustainable recognition. The intent is to improve their ability and those of their clients to calculate the environmental impacts of their sustainability efforts, and thereby strengthen the programs and expand adoption of sustainable practices. This initiative helps participants to communicate the impacts of their work to policy makers, customers, and other stakeholders. NEWMOA's Sustainable Grocers Metrics Methodology is the first phases of this effort. The final document, From Behavior Change to Environmental Outcomes In Sustainable Grocers: Sustainable Grocers Measurement Methodology was published in May 2015. Phase 2 of the project will involve incorportating the measurement methodolgoy into the online application and review system for NEWMOA's Regional Sustainable Grocer Initiative. Phase 1 and Phase 2 of this Project are funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2Rx™).
