Guidance to Compliance with IMERC-Member State Requirements

State members of IMERC have enacted a variety of mercury education and reduction requirements in their states' laws. Not all of the IMERC-member states have enacted the same requirements. This webpage provide guidance on compliance with the following state requirements and describes which IMERC-member states have enacted those provisions:

Product Labeling and Notification: Provides guidance to help manufacturers, importers, and distributors of mercury-added products understand how to comply with Labeling and Notification requirements.
Applicable for Connecticut, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington State.

Product Bans & Phase-outs: Provides guidance to help manufacturers, importers, and distributors of mercury-added products understand how to comply with the ban and phase-out of the sale of certain mercury-added products (and how to apply for an exemption where allowed).
Applicable for California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

Collection Plans: Provides guidance on requirements mandating that manufacturers, importers, or distributors of certain mercury-added products establish a collection and recycling system when the product is ready to be discarded.
Applicable for Connecticut, Louisiana, and Rhode Island.
