IMERC Mercury-Added Products Database About the Database

Introduction

The IMERC Mercury-Added Products* Database presents information submitted to the IMERC-member states on the amount and purpose of mercury in consumer products. The database is intended to inform consumers, recyclers, policy makers, and others about:

  • products that contain intentionally-added mercury
  • the amount of mercury in a specific product
  • the amount of mercury in a specific product line sold in the US in a given year
  • manufacturers of mercury added products.

The information in this database was submitted through IMERC by or on behalf of product manufacturers in compliance with laws in the states of Connecticut, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. These notification requirements have been in effect for products manufactured or distributed beginning in January 2001. Information on these state specific mercury product notification requirements is available at the following websites:

The Notification forms and instructions that manufacturers or their designated trade group (reporting organizations) use to submit the data can be viewed at:

Notification Forms submitted to IMERC are reviewed by a Notification Committee consisting of representatives from each participating state. Following approval by the Committee, the information from the Forms is entered into the database and sent out to the reporting organization for its review and concurrence. The information in the database is posted on this webpage following concurrence by the reporting organization.

Mercury-added Product Notifications that have not been approved are not included in this database. This information will be added to the database only after it has been reviewed for completeness by the IMERC Notification Committee. All hard copy Forms that are submitted to IMERC are available to the public. If database users have a question about or interest in information that may still be under review by the IMERC states and the reporting organizations and therefore is not yet posted in this database, contact IMERC at (617) 367-8558.
