Jason summarized a recently published study that investigated the ecological, health, and safety (EHS) implications of using bio-based floor strippers as alternatives to solvent-based products.

1:00-2:30 - Developing & Applying the Green Screen for Safer Chemicals
Speaker: Mark Rossi, Ph.D., Clean Production Action
What is a green product? Mark Rossi and his colleagues at Clean Production Action have begun to develop a screening method to address this critical question for any program involved with promoting green products. Mark described the "Green Screen for Safer Chemicals" and its applications and several recent reports that Clean Production Action has published on green chemistry; presentation will be followed by discussion and questions.

2:45–3:30 - Assistance Initiative to Reduce Small Sources of TCE Cleaners Among Metal Finishers
Speaker: Linda Darveau, US EPA Region 1
Linda described a recent initiative in Rhode Island that was prompted by monitoring data that showed elevated levels of TCE in the ambient air in certain locations in Rhode Island. By examining the sources, EPA was able to target assistance and P2 efforts to small metal fabricating and finishing facilities and has been conducting technical assistance visits to help these firms eliminate/reduce their use of TCE.
