This regional project is complemented by model state projects in Maine
and Massachusetts that examine ways to coordinate among key groups and
agencies in individual states on integrated chemicals education and
reduction activities. The state projects are managed and supported
by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (ME DEP) and the
Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute (MA TURI) and supported
by partial funding and assistance from NEWMOA. ME DEP, and
MA TURI coordinate their respective regional and state efforts
throughout the project. NEWMOA, ME DEP, and MA TURI closely
manage this project with key contacts at EPA Regions 1 and 2.
NEWMOA is coordinating this project with its sister interstate environmental
organizations- Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM),
New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC)-state
and tribal public health, environmental and occupational health programs
and agencies in the Region.
