Green Lodging

Organization(s) Connecticut Dept. of Environmental Protection
Project Description A program designed to help CT hotels improve their environmental performance is almost ready to begin. Based on a program designed for Maine, the CT program offers hotels a self-audit workbook that is easy to understand. Any hotelier can do a facility walk-through and learn about the many ways that the operations of a hotel can become greener. The workbook offers about 400 possible points - many designed to offer suggestions for future work. It takes only 100 points for the initial certification. Participation is voluntary.

The program will be launched in partnership with the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism. This group will provide a green designation symbol in the 2010 Connecticut Vacation Guide and on their website for any certified hotel.
