| Project Description |
On October 16, 2008, the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance and Technology (MA OTA) hosted a conference to update Commonwealth officials and industry representatives on a promising new printing technology for the textile industry. For the last two years, MA OTA has managed a $150,000 study, funded by the John Adams Innovation Institute, part of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC), to evaluate the feasibility of high-speed digital printing using wide-format printers and radiation-curable materials. To date, study results have been encouraging, raising the possibility that this technology could offer textile-finishing and other types of printing companies a more economical, more environmentally friendly, and less energy-intensive alternative to conventional rotary screen printing. MA OTA next plans to assemble a coalition of stakeholders to apply to MTC for a grant to fund the launch of a prototype for commercial operation. |
