| Project Description |
As part of the voluntary Vermont Business Environmental Partnership, DEC is offering a compliance incentive to vehicle service facilities that meet beyond compliance best management practices and can demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations through an on-site assessment. Facilities will be designated as a "low-priority" for environmental regulatory inspections by meeting the program standards and maintaining their environmental management program. Targeted facilities for the two-year pilot program include private vehicle service and repair facilities and auto dealerships.
Vermont's vehicle service and repair guide for compliance and pollution prevention is being revised and updated for its third printing this summer 2006.
VT DEC has completed a series of 11 environmental workshops for vehicle service and repair businesses as a way to promote its new environmental guidebook.
There were 172 attendees at workshops, representing 124 facilities. Of these, 62 facilities expressed interest in on-site assistance, with 50 facilities eventually agreeing to an on-site visit. |
