| Project Description |
In July 2007, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services hosted the “Green Slopes – Reducing Emissions One Engine at a Time” workshop for New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine ski resorts. The workshop covered the importance of idling reduction and the benefits of using biodiesel blends as an alternative to diesel fuel. Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire gave a short description of why and how they implemented an idling reduction campaign. Cranmore Mountain in North Conway, New Hampshire gave a presentation on their successful biodiesel initiative.
The NHPPP is gathering speakers and sending out invitations for the third annual Green Slopes Workshop in 2009. The workshop will focus on storage tanks and implementing an effective green team. NH DES, as well as EPA invitees and industry specialists, will talk about storage tank compliance issues, new regulations, and the importance of having a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan in place. This year the Agency will be reaching out to compliance assistance officials from other New England states with ski areas that have become involved in this program. |
