Environmental Protection Agency - Region 1
|
| Project Description |
Tufts University has begun a Tufts Climate Initiative to meet Kyoto Protocol global climate change greenhouse gas reduction targets. Tufts University and Boston University secured a $900K grant to examine the potential impacts of climate change on infrastructure systems and services (e.g., flood control, water supply, drainage, wastewater management, solid and hazardous waste management, energy, transportation, communications, and recreational facilities) of metropolitan Boston and develop options for preventing or mitigating these effects. Elsewhere in New England, Maine has started a ClimateWise Business Partnership.
The Assistance and Pollution Prevention Division's (A & P2) Tread Lightly Program has succeeded in reducing the amount of CO2 EPA produced in Fall 1999 through energy conservation and materials conservation measures; EPA is also working with GSA to try to purchase green power for the new Region 1 Lab in Chelmsford. |
