Dental Self-Certification Program
| Organization(s) |
Vermont Dept. of Environmental Conservation

| Project Description |
DEC completed a voluntary dental self-certification program with over 350 dentists in the state. Dental practices that complete the self-certification form are considered in compliance with wastewater and hazardous waste management requirements. The first self-certification was due July 1, 2003, and subsequent certifications will be every other year. Over 90 percent of dental practices filed self certification forms indicating their compliance with environmental best management practices for hazardous waste, solid waste, and wastewater management compliance. Dentists were also mailed a listing of vendors of dental waste management services with detailed information on types of services and costs. |
