|
| Project Description |
In an effort to reduce dependence on foreign oil and improve air quality, P2 staff assisted Granite State Clean Cities Coalition (GSCCC) to implement petroleum fuel reduction projects. Recent GSCCC highlights include increasing compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure (with UNH transitioning their light duty fleet to CNG and constructing a CNG fueling station), and projects that promote the use of biodiesel throughout the state. In January 2004, Cranmore Mountain Ski Resort began using a 20 percent biodiesel blend (B20) in their power snow grooming equipment, demonstrating the viability of biodiesel in cold climate conditions. The City of Keene and Keene State College displaced over 75,000 gallons of diesel fuel with B20 and B100, and the NH Air National Guard has successfully used B20 in 76 heavy-duty vehicles. The GSCCC is also conducting an anti-idling education and outreach initiative to school bus drivers and heavy-duty fleets to reduce fuel use and harmful diesel exhaust. |
