Many Massachusetts companies were required to report for the first time in 2002 or 2003 on their use of such persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic substances as lead as a result of lower reporting thresholds. Those same companies will also be required to complete a Toxics Use Reduction (TUR) Plan by July 1, 2004. TURI offered a one-day workshop covering the essential basics of TUR Planning on December 16 in Marlborough. The workshop was intended for companies that intend to hire an outside, certified TUR Planner to complete and certify their plans, in order to help them understand the planning process and their on-going planning requirements. It was also appropriate for veteran TUR planners who wish to refresh their skills. |
