| Project Description |
In the summer of 2000, the Sixth Annual Governor's Award for P2 was presented at the Eighth Annual NH P2 Conference. Aavid Thermal Products of Laconia, was recognized for its "Continuous Improvement and P2 Programs." Aavid saved over $260,000 in energy costs and avoided rework costs on their anodizing line. Graphic Printers of Salem was recognized for a P2 project that involved switching from conventional solvent-based printing inks to "stay open" inks. By implementing the conversion, Graphic Printers reduced their generation of waste ink and waste solvent by approximately 85 percent. New Hampshire Ball Bearings was recognized for ISO 14000 certification of their EMS, and associated P2 projects. Project benefits included a 93 percent reduction in generation of hazardous waste since 1992, over 650,000 pounds of recycled materials, and a reduction in water use by 70,000 gallons per day. |
