Measurement Project Home
This system is designed to collect and present readily available data on waste reduction and resource efficiency efforts ("pollution prevention," or P2) from public agencies in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, the US Virgin Islands, and Vermont.
The System quantifies P2 progress related to air, water, waste, and energy resources. The System is also designed to translate P2 progress into the context of such bigger-picture issues as climate change, habitat, and sustainability.
"Question mark" icons link to useful definitions and examples to help the user
understand the model's input and reporting features. After entering input data,
the user is given a chance to review, approve, and (if desired) print the data
before submitting it to the measurement model's database.
Background
The National Pollution Prevention Results Data System is designed to assist pollution prevention programs by:
Providing a data repository for their activity, behavioral change, and outcome measures
Providing secure, aggregated program-level reports
Providing regional reports aggregating pollution prevention results and showing improvements for each region
Providing nationally aggregated results for the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR), U.S. EPA, and the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
Demonstrating the value-added service provided by pollution prevention program efforts through the implementation of customized cost calculators
Project Partners and Funding
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) , the Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC) , the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange Network (P2Rx) , the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR) , and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have entered into a Cooperative Agreement to exchange regional and national Pollution Prevention (P2) measurement data. A 2005 U.S. EPA Environmental Information Exchange Network Challenge Grant provides funding for the project. The project is a collaborative process involving CDPHE and the eight regional P2Rx Centers working with the numerous state, local, non-profit, and other P2 programs to integrate pollution prevention data from a variety of different sources.
NEWMOA is a participant in this initiative as a Regional P2Rx Center for EPA Regions 1 and 2 states and is funded under a contract with the PPRC for its efforts on the National P2 Results System.
