Many of the products we deal with on a day-to-day basis are made from a variety of chemicals. It is estimated that more than 95% of all products in commerce are enabled by chemistry. Industries such as building materials, household products, toys, apparel, automotive supplies, electronics and many others make wide use of chemicals as the building blocks that allow them to provide the benefits we expect as society. Yet we also expect these products to be safe throughout their life cycles. Witness the drum beat of chemicals in our products that are accused of being problematic.
